Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses let you take photos, record video, listen to music, take calls and talk to an AI assistant, all from a pair of glasses that look like classic Ray-Bans. But if you already wear glasses, the first question is simple: can you get them with your prescription?
Short answer: yes. Ray-Ban Meta glasses can be fitted with prescription lenses, including single vision and varifocals, and Specsmart offers prescription lenses on every smart glasses frame we sell. Here's everything you need to know before you buy.
What can Ray-Ban Meta glasses do?
- Camera: take photos and record video hands-free. The new Gen 3 models have a 12MP camera that records 3K video.
- Open-ear audio: speakers in the arms play music, podcasts and calls without blocking out the world around you.
- Meta AI: ask questions, set reminders, send messages and get information by voice.
- Calls and messages: make calls and send messages through your phone, hands-free.
- Battery: Gen 3 models last up to around 9 hours, and the charging case tops them up on the go.
You pair them with the Meta AI app on your phone (iPhone or Android).

What prescriptions can Ray-Ban Meta glasses take?
Ray-Ban Meta's own prescription service generally supports a total power between -6.00 and +4.00. Total power means your SPH plus your CYL together. Most glasses wearers fall comfortably inside this range.
If your prescription is stronger, don't rule them out. Specialist lens labs can often go further, so contact us with your prescription and we'll tell you what's possible before you order.

Prescription lens options for smart glasses
- Single vision: for short or long sight. The most common choice.
- Varifocals: for distance and reading in one lens, ideal if you're over 45. See our varifocal guide.
- Clear lenses with blue light filter: for everyday wear indoors and on screens.
- Light-reactive (Transitions) lenses: clear indoors, dark outdoors, so your smart glasses work as sunglasses too.
- Tinted or polarised sun lenses: for driving, holidays and bright days.

Are Ray-Ban Meta glasses worth it?
They're worth it if you:
- Want hands-free photos and video of family, travel or everyday moments
- Listen to music, podcasts or calls while walking, commuting or cycling
- Already need glasses and want one pair that does more
They may not suit you if you:
- Want a screen in your glasses. Standard Ray-Ban Meta models have no display. Meta sells a separate, more expensive Meta Ray-Ban Display model for that.
- Need very long battery life for full days without charging
- Have a prescription well outside the supported range
For most glasses wearers who like the idea of a camera and headphones in their frames, prescription Ray-Ban Meta glasses replace two or three gadgets with one.
Ray-Ban Meta prescription FAQs
Can you put prescription lenses in Ray-Ban Meta glasses? Yes. Ray-Ban Meta frames can be fitted with prescription lenses, including single vision, varifocal and light-reactive lenses. At Specsmart, every smart glasses frame we sell is available with prescription lenses.
What is the prescription range for Ray-Ban Meta? Ray-Ban Meta's own prescription service generally covers a total power of -6.00 to +4.00. If yours is stronger, contact us and we'll check what's possible.
Can I get Ray-Ban Meta with varifocal lenses? Yes. Varifocal (progressive) lenses are available, so you can see distance, screens and reading through one pair.
Do prescription lenses affect the camera or speakers? No. The camera, speakers and microphones are built into the frame, not the lenses, so they work the same with prescription lenses.
Can I use Ray-Ban Meta glasses as sunglasses? Yes. Choose light-reactive lenses that darken outdoors, or tinted or polarised prescription sun lenses.
Do Ray-Ban Meta glasses work with iPhone? Yes. They work with both iPhone and Android through the Meta AI app.
